Neighbor Girls
by Chet Corey

(for Sandy & Diane)

It would take them both
to weigh down
one end of a teeter-totter

and keep me suspended,
kicking mid-air,
before they’d leap off,

What in life took two--
in death, but one.
They are heavier now

in childhood memories,
neighbor girls who’d
flirt in adolescent tease
