Little League and Gone

The pitch met the swing
with improbable perfection.
_The simple elegance of the arc,
_the futile efforts of fielders:
_____I could not have hit a baseball
_____any farther than that.
It became a clean triple,
a work of performance art,
and a practical lesson
____in the end of dreams.
