Anniversary of a Death
by Richard Toth

An uncle,
More than fifty years ago
Hit me with
What's the only thing you have to do?
But it wasn't school
And every spurted answer
Got a flat no
You have to die! he finally dumped
A load, for sure
But one that grows increasingly heavy.
