I Am a Hunger Reenactor
by Jessica L. Walsh

What did that meal mean
the children will ask shuffling pictures
_______Was it plates on the table
_______then plates off the table
or the other way around

Dinner is our story problem
You set the table I cook forensics
so the scene makes sense

I knew you could take
but did you know how well I refrain
I stake for myself the state of wanting and abstaining
In both pictures
_______my shiny plate is a flag
_______of unclaiming

To the children I will be sacrificial
You are the one who looks hungry
Your appetite is on my side
holding the camera
