Pavement Abyss
by Diane Webster
|
The crack in the parking lot pavement
intentionally torques the heel of my shoe
hoping I’ll fall within its abyss
and be swallowed without a trace…
only my car as silent witness.
But I regain my balance
and scowl at the crack
smiling its glee at another chance
when I return hopefully with amnesia
of this morning’s adventure.
