The Belt of Santa Claus
by Denver Ejem Torres

Mama told me Papa needed a new belt.
My frail body was too tough like a slipper
it broke his belt from our last session.

The next day I sneaked to check
the shopping bag he brought home.

And I thanked God that the lady
down at the Department Store did not sell
Papa the belt of Santa Claus.
