Russian Roulette
by Deborah Dana

"We each keep a drawer full of different colored secrets."

This is about
the bullets you keep
in the bottom of
the red dresser drawer.

The weight of the lead
drops easily into place.
Slick and comforting
as you load the revolver.

It's always about
the bright-throated trill
as you spin the chamber
full and sweet
under your thumb.
Ready for another night's
pleasure.
