Jetski vs Girl
by Angela Hamon

Kawasaki
one hundred
twenty five horsepower
storage capacity 23 gallons
plenty of beer on board to run aground
and find underneath it
a fifteen year old swimmer
buried in four feet of water
revived, flying thru the air
landing at hospital poor parents
wringing hands waiting
for answers
father grey overnight mother
suddenly slimmer
lifelight baby girl crushed
under the weight of the beer
and a quarter million
first week doctor bills
and being late
for her own graduation
