Sister
by Larry Johnson

Crow storm
sears the lead sky
Last night meteors fell
into far-flung fields streaming trails
of fire

burning
out like dying
worlds. It's late fall. What light
there is now leaves like you did,
sister,

early
swift and heavy
but gradually, soundless,
taking away only yourself
in time
