How Snow Explains Itself
by Linda Ann Suddarth

While I dream
deep in the covers
the darkness hides
snow falling
so silently so
I’m unaware.
Upon waking
I remember
catch my breath
at beauty
that lives in memory,
can never catch up
with the astonishment
of how snow
explains itself
in sunlight
as a gift
of light and color.
