Evening Window
by Vincent Canizaro

light crept softly
through that evening window

you whispered
that it was better to be alive
than in a poem
hanging from a branch

it was then
the moon was brightest,
silver
through those weathered panes
lined the hardwood floor

in that silent bedroom

there was no part of you
I left untouched
