    Not the 15 minutes in the camera lens,
    not just the bleeding lead in on the nightly news.

    Not the slander and blame of the talk shows.

    Not notoriety. Not that.

    Not the fiery compound, the rented car
    pieces and suitcase fragments.

    Not the checkpoint roadblock of lost nations.

    Not good God the loaded gun in the restaurant,
    the bank lobby, the classroom.

    Not politics, not anymore.

    Not by owning the most.

    Not by force.

    Not by not responding to the impulse to make art.
