Bothersome Things
by David R. Cravens

it troubles me that parked cars
can be seen from the Oval Office
an aesthetic issue
no more likely in England
than a plastic Christmas tree
in a mahogany-paneled study
and I’m bothered
that I’ve never met an American
who’s read a biography
of Amerigo Vespucci
and that Microsoft Word
doesn’t even recognize him
(or the Brusilov Offensive)
and it concerns me to some extent
that up until this morning
(when I saw one in the shower)
I’d never stopped to wonder
how moths live through storms
