Key of Em
by Silvi Saxena

She shed more hair
in one week than a stylist snips off
working his three salons,

hair clogs the industrial size lint trays
and breaks the somber hum
of the washing machine,

water spills over, strands of brown
slide out like overcooked angel hair,
form small meatballs,

she didn’t eat for three days before
requesting Forever Young be played on loop,
tapped a finger along as long as she could.
