Fishbowl
by Aden Thomas

The lazy cat refuses
to drink from her dish
or the toilet
or the dripping faucet.

She prefers, instead,
the filthy dark fishbowl,
clouded in bacteria
and fingerprints.

Now the water
is three inches high.
Dead goldfish float
like orange driftwood
from far off shipwrecks.
