They Saved Me
by Suresh Kodoor

They killed my father, and
They said they came to save me.

They killed my brothers, uncles and clan
Still they said they came to save me.

They robbed my mother of her pride
Still they said they came to save me.

They stripped my kids of their dreams
Still they said they came to save me.

They dug my house and earth beneath
Still they said they came to save me.

They stole my wealth and all other else
Still they said they came to save me.

They took my robe and stood me naked
Still they said they came to save me.

They killed me at once at my no, and
They said they did save me indeed.
