Before I Ask to Take Her
by Sander Blome

After seven years
Of this first marriage to a widow,
Whose husband died ten years ago
After twenty-two happy years of marriage,
I am reminded,
To hold her closely,
To talk to her and have a private dance,
Before I ask to take her.
