Little Chivalry
by Tim Hopp

standing in the rain
as her car starts
lights on, a wave
as she drives off
you begin again
to breathe out
a mist of hot life
in ennui of night
cold and damp
you trudge back
wherever you parked
stepping in puddles
of dark clinging
inside your soles
