deliverance
by Robert Combs

because there are times you feel like screaming
because there are angels wings suffering
and sometimes your soul is scheming
while angry bubbles run your veins
because there is a muffled clarity
drifting thru a butterfly's glass-wing
because your dreams appear slim ... charity
echoes around the gentle slopes of your desires
because there is always a wolf waiting outside the doors
because deliverance seems smaller when
you feel it come bleeding through your pores
because the face in the mirror can't remember when it changed

we smile in the cool darkness
we frown at the blistered light
we are most afraid of what
we refuse see
