how i knew i was a parent

yesterday i saw a goddess
walking across the campus
a deity strolling serenely
through the unwashed herd
how to describe her
greek diana
the huntress queen
roman venus
sprung from the foamy sea
norse freya
guardian of love and beauty
celtic olwen
golden hair and bosom snowy
as my eyes looked
my mind thought
no daughter of mine
would be allowed to leave the house
wearing a skirt that short
