A Mild Interruption
by James Wackett

    He was sitting, watching
    the fountain drops shoot up,
    crash into each other, then
    fall, while above the water
the lights played off the leaves
    of an overhanging tree,
when she sat and asked if she
    could call.
    __________He wondered why
they only turned the fountain on
    at night--then turned to her,
    smiled, and told her
    that she might.
