Vice
by Jessica Evans

you have me
clamped
pressed like a book
dressed for binding
stacked
borders________refined
corners________aligned
metal ground on metal gyre
honied
________glue
a fingertip along a
spine
all volition
suspended
a drowsy numbness
for now
you need not be
here
to operate the spindle
I know shared
virtue
brings true friendship
and shared
vice
true passion
you churn the press
two jaws a
screw
a lever
only moments will pass
before another
trial
another admission
another forgiving
another vexed
memory
and
______vice
