Will The Angels Please Take Note
by David LaBounty

of what I’m doing right now,

leading my sons to the daylight creek

feeding them lunch and
skipping rocks, not just
to feed them, not just
to pass the time
________but rather

to build a simpler time

to build a memory of a simpler time,

the way bones build a skeleton, the
way a tree has to fall before
a house can be built or before a
paper can be read

so angels
________please
take note of this,
________record
this moment,
________write
it in the margins
of my indiscretion.
