This is the house where Adam lived
by Barrie Neller

(after a 1700’s nursery rhyme)

This is the house where Adam lived

This is the town
That surrounds the house where Adam lived

This is the school that nurtures the town
That surrounds the house where Adam lived

This is the rifle he took to the school
That nurtures the town that surrounds the house
Where Adam lived.

These are the magazines that load the rifle
He took to the school that nurtures the town
That surrounds the house
Where Adam lived

These are two of the adults
He killed with the rifle
He took to the school
That nurtures the town that surrounds the house
Where Adam lived

These are the first of the children
He killed with the rifle
He re-loaded with the magazines he took
To the school that nurtures the town
That surrounds the house
Where Adam lived

These are more of the twenty
elementary school children and six adults
He killed with the long-barrel rifle
He re-loaded with the 30-round magazines
He took to the school that nurtures the town
That surrounds the house
Where Adam lived

This is the handgun
He used to kill himself
After killing twenty children
And six adults with the rifle and magazines
He took to the school
That nurtures the town
That surrounds the house
Where Adam lived

These are the parents
That mourn the killing of the
Twenty children and six adults
Who waited a week for the NRA’s solution
To arm all the teachers
In all of the schools
That nurture the towns
That surround the houses
Where children live.
