Studio Apartment
by Dion Kempthorne

The mockingbird
hatched from its shell

like that raincoat
you got with the pill

sealed up tight in
its tiny plastic packet

for a rainy day will
never again fit into

a space so tidy
as your brooding

before the storm
before your wings

got in the way.
