    _____of the dead instrument, the sharp
    something jutting out of the field, the field
    violated, sound draining away from--evidence.
    --Locks the door, close me, lock me

    in, she says to Maddie. Violin drifting in
    _____from the island above her (third story)
    _____fist meeting face in the island below her (first story)
    father dying somewhere
    in the vacuous canyon. Hospital says: Take this, this, take
    these twice a day for--

    thrush born in nest of throat, wing collapsing without song.
