Richly Drowned
by P K Padhy

Every body spoke very high of him
Some narrated
As the most distinguished,
Some compared
As tall as the ancient pipal tree.
Pearls of words rolled
As pebbles down the hill.
Words of adjectives rushed
As mad honey bees.
Hills of praises were built
And the reality stream
Dried out of shame.
The welcome speech ended
With noisy voice of winds.
He struggled with
An unbecoming smile
With his frog-like eyes.
Miserly every one clapped,
He was declared “Man of the City”.
