Although they were not enforced
the marriage was full of signs
do not enter
put out by invisible construction workers
Their silent warnings cautioned
Go slow – my daddy works here
From a thoroughfare, our road has become a single lane
How was work?
Did you pick up the cleaning?
What’s on PBS tonight?
and traffic backed up
with all the
____ unresolved answers
____ unspoken hopes
until only the one sign was left
