When Tony Died
by Laurie Joan Aron

When Tony died, even his lady barber went blubbering up to the chapel.
All that humping boxes, no wonder it hurt.
Who but Tony would have worked alongside his grizzled crew on the tough jobs?
Who would have guessed it was cancer?
After the funeral, the hearse processed up Amsterdam Avenue followed by eight trucks.
There was a honking salute at the storefront.
The hearse was the only moving van working that day.
