Daughter, Walk Cautious
by Barbara Ann Smith

muck ruins shoes,
obstacles obstruct pathways.
Survival won't flourish without provisions,
you must prepare.

Choose an ironclad armor
before rushing into combat.
Polish and preserve its metal,
rust tarnishes and destroys the sheen.

Never allow anyone to demolish the shield,
aim for the best in all feats.
Keep a pace ahead of hurdles,
learn, beware and be diplomatic.

Daughter, walk cautious,
mire boggles. Crooked footsteps.
