Cabin on Lake Lucerne
by Mary Wehner

Slant of light
on the white sill
sun crossing over
to the other side
slow to relinquish.

The long stretch
of your neck
about to rise
too soon
it’s barely noon

Crickets
ratcheting up
in the grass
the blue lake sliding
back and forth.

No reason to stir.
This is our first full
breath of loving.
notice the waves
shimmer the white wall.
