"On Our Silver"
by Larry D. Thomas

wedding anniversary,
we decided to grill ribeyes,
burn logs in the fireplace,

and pop open the Northstar
Premier Merlot hidden
in the shadows of the cellar.

We took turns sharing
favorite memories, the quarter
century of our togetherness

whirring by our fire-lit eyes
like a fast-forwarded film.
Silver was everywhere,

shimmering in strands
of her hair, sheening
her Sterling bracelets.

Even the gibbous moon
was but a goblet
brimming with it,

tilted by a tipsy god
to inebriate the world
with gleaming.
