Anniversary Memory
by Tobi Cogswell

He brought roses for their anniversary
blushing pink with proper innocence.

She took one perfect bloom caressed his
ear, right eyelid, lips
on shoulders down arms, she brushed his chest,
hinted of pleasure

& danced with roses in her hair.

Her lips were subtler than petals,

his skin on fire.

Fluid, oil in water
eyes opened to say I love you,
lips opened to take quick breath & kiss

so slow.

Among the blush of morning
And scent of night
a petal rested.

Pink almond nails
lifted it &
fed it to him.

They still remember.
